Airing out the tent

Yesterday afternoon we got the tent out, and set it up to let it air out a bit.
While our motor home is pretty roomy and allows us all to sleep fairly comfortable on the road, once we arrive we like to spread out a little. We have a tent we setup behind the camper. The older boys sleep in the tent and the younger kids sleep in the RV with us.
Our original 10 man tent bit the dust on our first trip to the Fort. It served us well for more than 10 years and we are proud to have given it a proper burial (in a partially buried trash can) at the fort.
We purchased this tent to replace it. It is a Coleman cabin tent. The kids love it. Of course tent camping at the fort isn't exactly roughing it. They bring a TV out there and we have a stand alone AC that we will put in there as well.

MAGIC BANDS

LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL ON SATURDAY!!! WOO HOO!!

Brewing trip essentials

All buttoned up and fermenting nicely.

More lamp construction

I got my globe post topper but I mad a discovery. not all 12" globes are created equally. The globe that I got had the smaller opening on the bottom, but after a few modifications it worked fine.

I wired in a plug to the topper to make sure it would be easy to disassemble the lamp for transport.

Then of course I couldn't resist powering it up.

Construction

Ok, I started work on the Mickey Lamp this weekend.

First we had this old can laying around that we thought would make a good base.

I ordered some globes form the Home Depot, 1 12" and 2 6" globes. And
proceeded to measure and drill out the ear holes.

Dry Fit

All glued up. I used Loctite adhesive at first but I took off the tape to early and one of my ears fell off. I then used some Liquid Nails clear silicon which was thicker than the Loctite and I think was easier to work with. It is clear and UV rated so it should hold up well.

Here is the base after I applied a base coat of paint. I installed an outlet box. My idea is that there will be a switch for the lamp as well as an additional outlet that I can use for plugging in other stuff.

This is as far as I made it this weekend. It was to cold to do any more painting. I found an old metal table that I cut a hole in and thought would make a good table top for the base. I am using 2" abs for the lamp post. But you can start to see what the finished product will look like.

Mickey Lamp

Well after years of thinking about it I finally ordered some parts today to try to make a mickey lamp.

I am going to go for something like this.

Not sure if mine will look that nice. But hopefully it will be close to it.

I am using this link as a guideline

I ordered the globes today so hopefully they will get here by the weekend and I can start construction.

Ready to go

Got the essentials packed now

Sulley and spy rodent are ready to go.
The kids won that little chipmunk spy guy hanging in the front window from Chip and Dale at our last trip to the Fort. Since then he somehow finds his way around the house hanging from chandeliers and banisters and anything else with height. Not sure when he made his way to the RV but he clearly means to hitch a ride back to the Fort to see his old pals

36 and counting

We finally got the slides opened up after the longest winter ever. Hopefully the big snowfall is behind us. The rv is starting to look ready to travel.

Baptism

We had Joseph's baptism this weekend. Fr. Brandon did a wonderful job.
There were three other babies also getting baptized at the same time and they all had a lot of family so it was quite a crowd.
