The Travel Plan

Here is the plan for getting to Disney World from central MN in a little less than 48 hours of travel time.

We will hit the road at 4:00 PM. That will put us in Minneapolis, coming down 94 at about 6:30. Hopefully that will be late enough to clear most of the rush hour.

Day 1 -Goal Iowa City
The plan is to try to make it as far as Iowa City on for the first night. In the past we have always shot for Mt. Pleasant but it seems like we always fall a little short of that. Iowa City will be about 7 hours from home so we hope to make it there by 11:00 pm or so.
We boondock at Walmarts all the way to Disney, we usually call the store and clear it with a manager when we arrive but have never had a problem. They are well lit, usually have people around and are covered by security cameras. There are almost always at least a couple other RV's as well so we feel more secure there than at a truck stop or gas station.

Day 2 - Goal Dalton, GA
The second day has always been a bit of a challenge for us. Not because of the distance but because of the Cities, between St. Louis, Nashville, and Chattanooga we always seem to catch one of them in rush hour. Here is what I am kind of thinking.
If we leave Iowa City between 5:30 and 6:00AM that should give us this.
St. Louis - 10:00am
Nashville - 3:00pm
Chattanooga - RIGHT at RUSHHOUR we will probably stop just after Nashville and have dinner or something for an hour or two. It will be a nice point for a break anyway. Try to target Chattanooga at or after 6:30 PM
Dalton, GA - between 7-8 pm.
Somewhere in here we hit that giant hill in TN. That is always fun (not really so much) we start out about 15Mph and try to not ride the breaks all the way down.

Day 3 - Goal FORT WILDERNESS
I will preface this day with this. The whole beginning of this trip, and the goal of stopping in Dalton, is to be able to target Atlanta in the very early morning. I have no desire to drive our motorhome through Atlanta traffic anytime ever. The South is nice but you can keep Atlanta.
So, depart, Dalton. 3:00AM
Atlanta - God willing, 4:30 -5 with minimal traffic.
Then it is clear sailing.
Fort Wilderness !!! hopefully rolling in by about Noon on Friday the 16th.
We are booked in a preferred site. Which in theory means 100 or 200 loop, since we have no pets. We have requested 100, but really would be happy in 100, 200 or 300. Really, I will be happy wherever they stick us. I am happy to roll the dice on a new loop if they upgrade us or something, but we do like being close to the Settlement.

soon to see
